How Recycled Toner Cartridges can Save Money While Improving Performance

Remanufactured cartridges, which usually cost at least 30 percent less than those sold by printer original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), are a better deal for consumers. We all know that recycled cartridges can save us money – but not everyone has learned about performance increases which recycled and aftermarket toner cartridges can provide. The OEM printer manufacturer’s who also provide consumables are looking for a very large profit. These consumables are expected to produce far more revenue, in many cases, than the printer itself. After market consumables often have far smaller profits attached, and also have the added benefit of avoiding some landfill waste.

While it is common knowledge that recycled toner will be cheaper, not everyone knows you can also get performance gains. The primary potential gain in performance is in page count. Many compatible and remanufactured cartridges are high yield cartridges, producing much more print output than the standard yield OEM cartridges. No matter whether you are purchasing OEM, compatible or remanufactured cartridges, always compare the page yield and the printing cost per page before the purchase.

Most remanufacturers are reliable and provide quality toner cartridges that meet or exceed OEM standards. Some companies, however, simply drill a hole in the side of the cartridge and refill it with toner, failing to clean and repair broken parts.
